Role: Head of Engineering & Digital Delivery Role Type: Short Term Contract (3-4 Months+) Start Date: Early / Mid-November
We are seeking an experienced Head of Engineering to step in for a short-term contract while our current Head is on personal leave. This role is ideal for a seasoned engineering leader with a solid technical background who can manage a dynamic, fast-paced environment and drive multiple large-scale digital programs across multiple brands.
What you'll do: Lead and manage a team of 70+ engineers across 7 squads, with potential scaling to nearly 100 as project funding expands.Oversee the delivery of key digital projects including web, hybrid apps, and multi-brand assets with a strong bias towards retail-focused solutions.Drive engineering excellence and ensure strong technical execution across solution architecture in every squad.Orchestrate and guide engineering efforts, bringing your deep technical expertise to the table, especially in Flutter and hybrid apps.Manage large-scale programs including app expansion into new markets and supply chain improvement initiatives.Collaborate closely with senior engineers, delivery managers, and solution architects to ensure optimal delivery, scalability, and alignment with business goals.Key requirements: Extensive experience as a Head of Engineering or in a similar leadership role.Strong technical background with hands-on understanding of modern web technologies and app development (e.g., Flutter, hybrid apps, Java, .Net).Proven experience managing and scaling engineering teams (70+ people), with a focus on agile delivery in cross-functional squads.Ability to lead technical architecture and deliver innovative solutions across multiple domains.Experience driving complex digital delivery programs within the retail sector.Familiarity with scaling teams and projects in response to project funding.Strong communicator and leader, comfortable being the orchestrator of technical solutions and delivery across multiple brands.Available to work in-office 3-4 days per week.Why this role?
