Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) is a 783-bed tertiary hospital offering a range of health services including the State Rehabilitation Service, a comprehensive cancer centre, purpose-built mental health unit, maternity, paediatric and neonatal services, and the State Adult Burns Service. FSH also delivers specialised services such as heart and lung transplantations and hyperbaric medicine.
SMHS delivers quality, safe and effective hospital and health services within a catchment area stretching more than 3300 square kilometres across the southern half of Perth.

This role provides clinical leadership to ensure appropriate, safe, quality patient care in line with the National Safety and Quality in Health Service and other Professional Standards; relevant WA Health and SMHS performance standards and targets. The position promotes personalised, timely and efficient patient care and motivates and mentors all levels of medical staff and ensures junior medical staff are appropriately educated, supported, monitored and supervised. The successful applicant will manage the performance of Consultants, Senior Medical Practitioners and Fellows and ensure the performance of Junior Medical Staff is appropriately managed. This position also promotes and leads case reviews, benchmarking, audit, education, research, and innovation.

This is a Fixed Term Full Time appointment for 5 years with the possibility of extension(s).
Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the health service. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of six (6) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
