In this newly created role, you will be responsible for driving local economic growth, investment attraction, and small business development. This is an exciting and unique opportunity to help shape the future of tourism in the iconic Yarra Ranges region.Key responsibilities:Deliver Council's Economic Development Strategy, Visitor Economy Partnership, and lead initiatives like the Investment Attraction Strategy and Rural Advisory Committee.Develop the Region of Choice project, and administration and performance of the Priority Investment Panel.Support the performance of the Small Business office, which offers a concierge service to businesses and helps them navigate their way through Council processes and systems.Lead industry development and business support activities for Yarra Ranges' 55 townships and suburbs, and business precincts.Lead a team of 5 direct reports, building capability and culture in line with Yarra Ranges Council's values.This is a Band 8 role with a salary range between $121,000 and $130,500 per annum, plus superannuation.Support work-life balance with flexible working and purchased leave options, as well as options for novated lease vehicles.What you'll bring to our team:Leadership skills to inspire and foster a high-performance team culture, build meaningful, trusted and long-lasting strategic partnerships, and champion Council's economic growth strategy.Proven expertise in economic development, investment facilitation, and small business support, ideally with experience in implementing strategies that benefit local businesses and drive job creation.Cross-functional collaboration experience to build partnerships with federal/state government bodies, industry, businesses, and community groups to achieve shared goals.A customer service ethos to enhance processes, focus on customer satisfaction, and ensure that all stakeholders benefit from Council's economic initiatives.We value candidates who are passionate about improving community wellbeing through economic initiatives and have a proven track record of innovation, strategic leadership, and collaborative engagement.How to apply:Include a cover letter and resume with your application.
