How will I help?
Payments transformation continues globally. In Australia, the broadening of the New Payments Platform (NPP) usage and the support for the Federal Government's 2030 payments transformation agenda is seeing the need for ongoing investment to meet customer and industry expectations. Within Westpac, the need to simplify our technology environment applies equally to our payments processing environment.
The Head of Domestic Payments Technology is the technology owner for systems supporting Westpac's participation in the New Payments Platform. They are the people leader for the IT professionals working to deliver our Domestic Payments program and a key leader to drive and guide delivery to the desired outcomes across this significant, multi-year strategic program.
The Head of Domestic Payments Technology provides leadership to the cross-functional platform teams (squads), supports decisions regarding technologies and engineering practices being deployed, and oversees all IT delivery activities.
As a member of the program leadership team, they work hand in hand and in collaboration with the overall Service/Product Owners who drive business strategy and set strategic direction for delivery execution ensuring ongoing alignment.
What do I need?
Experience

15+ years in Technology management preferably in Financial Services and/or Payments
10+ years managing large and complex projects across various business areas
10+ years in people management and leadership within large and complex Financial Services organisations
Supplier Relationship Management, and managing external vendors to successful outcomes
Business/Operational Risk Management
Financial management of technology, including operating and capital expenses and optimising technology investment
Strong stakeholder management skills to senior GM and Executive stakeholders
Exceptional collaboration skills to bring together diverse stakeholders to align and make decisions on complex issues
Ability to drive internal and external teams to detailed plans
Developing and delivering mission-critical, highly performant and resilient technology
Delivery using modern engineering practices
Payments experience essential

Education

Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience
SAFe accreditation desirable
