Applications are invited for a highly motivated Head of Department - Student Services (locally known as Head of House) to join the Student Services Team at Shailer Park State High School. This role is offered on a full-time temporary basis, from 23 January 2025 until 27 June 2025, unless otherwise determined.

About Shailer Park State High School Shailer Park State High School is looking for a dynamic, motivated and innovative leader for the position of Head of House in our Student Services Team. Our vision is "Excellence in Learning and Life," and as a Head of House, you will support and lead initiatives that enhance the engagement, belonging, wellbeing, and behaviour support of Year 7 - 12 students.

About the Role In this position, you will be responsible for:
Positively impacting student learning outcomes, social emotional development, and wellbeing to support high-quality outcomes for students in your House and allocated year level.Leading the development, resourcing, and implementation of the Wellbeing Curriculum for a specific year level in collaboration with the wider Student Services Team.Proactively leading the work to connect students with the Student Services Team to provide support and intervention for students experiencing significant barriers in accessing their learning.Liaising with parents, teachers, and support staff to provide support and guidance for students when needed.Coordinating year level events for whole cohort activities to develop a sense of year-level identity and belonging.Promoting quality teaching and learning to support every student's engagement in their education and nurture positive relationships between students, teachers, parents, and education stakeholders.Proactively leading a strategic portfolio to support student outcomes and whole school improvement.Leading data-based improvement cycles and coaching staff to impact student outcomes and whole school improvement.Upholding the school's values, expectations, and House culture system through strong leadership skills.To be successful in this role, you: Need to be an effective communicator with excellent skills in developing positive relationships and have the ability to function to a high standard in a team environment.Will possess a sound knowledge of essential skills of classroom management and have strong de-escalation and emotional regulation skills.May possess knowledge of functional behaviour assessment, classroom profiling, restorative practices, positive behaviour for learning, inclusive education, and development of student wellbeing.This position will have a fractional teaching load and a fractional case management load.
