Mackay Northern Beaches State High School seeks a focussed and dynamic Head of Department, Student Services to join a committed team on our journey to achieve best possible outcomes and pathways for all of our students.
An exciting opportunity exists for afocused and dynamic leader, passionate about supporting student engagement and wellbeing for 2024, commencing 23 January until 12 December 2025, unless otherwise determined.
You will take the lead on overseeing the Year 9 cohort as well as the school'sstrategic agenda associated with E Learning.

About the Role This Head of Department position will be suited to an energetic and future-focused individual who has the ability to provide supporg and the diverse proactive and reactive needs of the Year 9 cohort.
You will play a vital role in collation and analysis of student TrackEd and OneSchool data and capacity building of staff to ultimately deliver quality of teaching and learning practices for students.
You will also have as part of your protfolio, leadership of Elearning within the school, bringing together the key experts associated with this portfolio (eg.
QLearn, DayMaps, BYOD) to ensure student and our community's engagement in these platforms is maximised for most effective use.
Their practice needs to have a strong student-focused approach and ability to build strong professional relationships with students, teachers, parents and the community.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide management and engagement strategies including induction activities of new arrivals, and advise on specific academic, social and emotional needs of new arrivals.Monitor students' individual performance and behaviour and develop and implement intervention strategies where necessary.Communicate and work with parents, staff, higher education institutes and State Schools Division to develop strategies to improve learning outcomes, student achievements and attendance.Please refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.
