Mackay Northern Beaches State High School is the newest secondary school in Mackay, opening in 2013. The school's 3 values are Care, Respect and Inclusion, with an emphasis being placed on these through the introduction of Positive Behaviour for Learning in 2025.

About the Role
This Head of Department position will be suited to an energetic and future-focused individual who has the ability to provide support for the diverse proactive and reactive needs of the Year 9 cohort. You will play a vital role in the collation and analysis of student TrackEd and OneSchool data and capacity building of staff to ultimately deliver quality teaching and learning practices for students. You will also have as part of your portfolio, leadership of Elearning within the school, bringing together the key experts associated with this portfolio (eg. QLearn, DayMaps, BYOD) to ensure student and community engagement in these platforms is maximised for the most effective use. Their practice needs to have a strong student-focused approach and the ability to build strong professional relationships with students, teachers, parents, and the community.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provide management and engagement strategies including induction activities of new arrivals, and advise on specific academic, social, and emotional needs of new arrivals.Monitor students' individual performance and behaviour and develop and implement intervention strategies where necessary.Communicate and work with parents, staff, higher education institutes, and State Schools Division to develop strategies to improve learning outcomes, student achievements, and attendance.
