Holloways Beach Environmental Education Centre are seeking applications for a Head of Department - Student Engagement to deliver the OnTrek Program. This role is offered on a temporary full-time basis, for a period of 12 months, unless otherwise determined.

This role provides an opportunity to lead, guide and deliver TAFE and VET accredited course work along with Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and Silver Award qualifications.

About The Role
As the Head of Department, you will manage a team of teachers delivering programs to schools in the Far North Region aimed at increasing QCE completion rates, improving student outcomes and lifting attendance rates.
Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
You will liaise with Principals and key teachers in client schools to facilitate student learning in the areas of Outdoor recreation, active volunteering and sports coaching.Oversee budgeting for OnTrek program and overall program resources.Collaborate with multiple VET partners to ensure comprehensive program support, contract management and facilitator currency and competency to deliver VET in schools.Maintain an overview of program operations, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.Develop and implement curriculum focused on outdoor recreation and active volunteering and sports coaching.Manage corporate card usage and comply with procurement processes.Build and maintain partnerships with schools, ensuring clear communication and alignment of objectives.Identify and manage risks related to program activities.Ensure staff possess the necessary qualifications to deliver outdoor recreation and active volunteering programs.Engage with Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority, Australian Skills Quality Authority, and Department of Employment, Small Business and Training to ensure compliance.Lead small teams focused on curriculum and pedagogy in adventure-based learning.Implement data tracking systems to monitor program effectiveness and participant engagement.Develop and manage timetables that optimize program delivery.Oversee relationships with external partners, ensuring a contextualised learning program and intentional outcomes.Facilitate or provide access to professional development for staff.Monitor and assess program outcomes and make necessary adjustments.How To Apply Please attach a brief resume including contact details for 2 referees (referees should have an understanding of your relevant previous work history).Applicants should also provide a written response to the following question - What experience have you had as an educational leader leading and delivering Vocational courses and/or engagement programs in either a school, regional or central office role?
