Head of Department - Student Engagement - Behaviour Support Services - South East RegionAn exciting opportunity exists for a Head of Department Student Engagement within the South East Region Behaviour Support Services Team.
This role is offered on a temporary full-time basis, from 21 January 2025 until 27 June 2025 unless otherwise determined.The Department of Education is dedicated to building an inclusive and diverse workforce that reflects the community and schools we support by treating everyone with respect and dignity.
This starts with recruitment and selection.About the RoleThe Head of Department Student Engagement within the Behaviour Services Support Team will work in collaboration with regional and school staff to support the proactive planning for improved student engagement.
The successful applicant will be solutions focused, relational in their approach and have demonstrated their experience in supporting students with a range of complex presentations including disability and trauma.Previous experience in the Junior Secondary space is desirable along with previous experience in developing and implementing student support plans aligned to DoE policy and procedure.
This role will involve building the capability of school teams to implement student support plans with increased confidence.ResponsibilitiesProvide leadership and guidance for the implementation of innovative measures aimed at improving student learning outcomes and attendance in schools where a significant percentage of students may have a disadvantaged background, ensuring quality learning outcomes for all students.Where requested, prepare all data returns for senior management.Monitor students' individual performance and behaviour and develop and implement intervention strategies where necessary.How to ApplyPlease attach a brief resume including contact details for 2 referees (referees should have an understanding of your relevant previous work history); andA 2-page response to the How you will be Assessed section of the attached role description.We welcome all applicants to share any support needed to ensure our recruitment process is inclusive.Applications remain current for 12 months from the closing date and may be considered for appointment to identical or similar vacancies within the Department.Applications from recruitment agencies will not be accepted.When working in regulated employment an employee must have a current Working with Children Clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.Salary rate shown is reflective of full-time (1.0 FTE).We are committed to building inclusive cultures in the Queensland public sector that respect and promote human rights and diversity.
