About the RoleAs the Head of Department - Special Needs, you will have responsibility for (but not limited to) the following:
Lead the school's Special Education Department teachers, students, and stakeholders to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focused on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.Support the behaviour and learning of all students through a seamless transition of student progression.Assist in leading and coordinating the maintenance, review, and implementation of inclusive practices under the NCCD model of support.Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling, especially in relation to students with disabilities.Manage the human, financial, facilities, and curriculum resources of the Special Education Department to achieve goals.Assist in leading and coordinating the maintenance, review, and implementation of curriculum frameworks, pedagogy, programs, assessment, and reporting.Provide instructional leadership and staff training (particularly in the areas of QCIA and Individual Curriculum Plans, Flexible Arrangements, and NCCD processes).Lead specialist programs and supports including Senior Student Tracking, Enrolments, Support Provisions, PLPs, Health Plans, Behaviour Plans, Additional funding applications, Student Transport Assistance program, and transition through all phases of learning.Demonstrate a high level of relational capacity.Please refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.
