Head of Department - Performance and Visual Art - Music This is a 12 month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2025 with possible extension (12 months) and/or permanency.

Our college caters for 1750 students from Years 7 to 12 through seven Gifted and Talented (GAT) programs in the creative domain, including Ballet, Contemporary Dance, Drama, Media Arts, Music, Music Theatre, and Visual Arts, as well as through a small local catchment or participation in our Soccer Excellence Program.

The Role JCCA is seeking to appoint a motivated and innovative Head of Department (HOD) - Performance and Visual Art - Music to join their leadership team.
Please note that individuals with experience outside of this artform will not meet the requirements of this role.
The Music Department includes oversight of a Gifted and Talented (GAT) Music Program, GAT Music Theatre Program, and a Music Enrichment program for all students engaged in the Instrumental Music School Service Program.
A strong understanding of diverse music styles and genres is important for this role.
The successful applicant should lead with open-mindedness and interpersonal courage, creating a supportive environment for both staff and students based on empathy and understanding.
As an exemplary classroom practitioner, you should possess an excellent understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum, assessment, and reporting requirements for Years 7 to 12.
Experience teaching ATAR Music to Year 12 and knowledge or experience in managing Certificate III in Music is desirable.
The successful applicant will ideally have high standards of professionalism and embrace collaboration and partnerships within and beyond the college community.
This position plays an active role in our College Leadership Team, supporting and promoting the business plan and directions of the College.
As an expert practitioner, you should have a commitment to excellence in teaching and engage in ongoing self-reflection.
The ability to evaluate the effectiveness of teaching practice and team performance is crucial.
Another key attribute is the ability to create conducive learning environments and provide relevant educational opportunities for different student learning needs.
