An outstanding opportunity exists at Sunshine Beach State High School for an educational leader with initiative and drive for supporting high quality student outcomes to lead our Global Engagement and Culture department. Head of the Department of Global Engagement & Culture will lead strategic initiatives to foster international collaboration and cultural understanding within our organization. This role requires a visionary leader to develop and implement programs that enhance global partnerships, promote cultural diversity, and enrich community engagement. The successful candidate will oversee a dynamic team, and cultivate relationships with international institutions, local communities, and stakeholders.

About the Role Key responsibilities include managing the International Study Abroad and Study Tour Programs, Italian faculty and Distance Education, managing budgets and resources, and evaluating the impact of cultural initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of global cultural dynamics, and a passion for promoting inclusivity and global citizenship. This position is pivotal in shaping the organization's global presence and enhancing its commitment to cultural dialogue and exchange.
The successful applicant will have the capability to lead and manage the International Study Abroad Program and the Study Tour Program, which involve dealing with EQI, Overseas Agents, Parents and students. This position is one that requires a wholly dedicated individual that is prepared to be on call 24/7 as our clients live all around the world and may need to contact you at any time.
The school has Sister School arrangements with Cividale in Italy and every year we offer an Italian Cultural Tour that our Year 10 & 11 students are able to enjoy at the end of the year. These tours are also part of the responsibility of the HOD.
The HOD is also responsible for Distance Education students in Year 7 - 12.
As the HOD of Global Engagement & Culture, you will have the responsibilities for, but not limited to:
Lead and manage QCAA Senior Subjects - ITALIANLead and manage Sister School Exchange ProgramsLead and manage the International Study Abroad ProgramLead and manage the Study Tour ProgramLead and manage Distance education for the whole school.Lead & manage pedagogy within faculty classes.Instructional Leadership - Implementation of AIP including whole school strategies and department initiatives.Line management of faculty staff and the Homestay Coordinator.Modelling and supporting staff with ESCMs and follow up on subject specific behaviour management.Wellbeing of staff.How to Apply Please submit as a PDF.
