About the RoleMackay Northern Beaches State High School is the newest secondary school in Mackay, opening in 2013. The school's 3 values are Care, Respect and Inclusion, with an emphasis being placed on these through the introduction of Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) in 2023. This Head of Department position will be suited to an energetic and future-focused individual who has the ability to lead the Faculty to engender excitement and passion in teachers to deliver the Australian Curriculum in the Humanities subjects. The practices of the preferred candidate need to have a strong student-focused approach and ability to build strong professional relationships with students, teachers, parents and the community. The successful Head of Department will be an agile leader with a record of success in providing quality learning outcomes for all students and leading school improvement. As an instructional leader, you will be focused on developing students who are problem-solvers with decision-making agility and risk-taking skills who can move into the future with confidence and resilience. Your OpportunityAs the Head of Department Humanities you will have responsibility for the following:
Lead the relevant curriculum areas or whole school program to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.Embed socially just practices in daily school life.Set high standards for student and staff performance.Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.Please refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.
