About the role
Blackheath and Thornburgh College is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Department for English and Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS).
As Head of Department, you will lead a team of dedicated teachers and play a pivotal role in shaping the educational experience of our secondary school students.
This is a full-time, permanent position based in Charters Towers, Queensland.
What you'll be doing Providing strong academic leadership and strategic direction for the English and HASS departmentsOverseeing the development and implementation of engaging and effective curriculum across Years 7-12Fostering a collaborative team environment and supporting the professional development of teaching staffAnalysing student performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement targeted interventionsLiaising with parents, carers and the broader school community to promote student successEnsuring compliance with all relevant educational policies, procedures and legislative requirementsContributing to the overall leadership and strategic direction of the collegeWhat we're looking for Experience as a secondary school teacher, with a demonstrated track record of excellence in the classroomProven leadership experience, preferably as a Head of Department or in a similar roleStrong knowledge of the Australian Curriculum, with the ability to design and deliver high-quality teaching and learning programsExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents and colleaguesA commitment to data-driven decision making and continuous improvementRelevant teaching qualifications and registration with the Queensland College of TeachersWhat we offer
