In 1917, due to increasing enrolments, Gatton High School was created on the present Gatton State School site. This became Lockyer District High School when it was opened at its present location in 1961. Since that time, our school has developed with the town in establishing a positive and respected reputation and is recognised as a leader in the fields of academic, sporting and cultural excellence. You will play a vital role in developing the quality of teaching and learning and nurturing positive relationships between students, teachers and stakeholders. The successful applicant will, as HOD (English), be responsible for leading the English curriculum area within our school, including English (7-10), English Extension (10), Essential, General, and Literature (11-12), and literacy interventions including literacy short courses.You will be required to lead teaching staff to provide quality learning outcomes for all students, and to lead continuous school improvement aligned to our school's strategic priorities. As an instructional leader, you will be focused on ensuring all students develop their global competencies so they can transition into the future workforce with confidence and resilience.As such, you will be required to demonstrate your previous success with:The design of curriculum and cross curricula learning experiences that meet the requirements of the Australian Curriculum V9, and QCAA.Engaging students in skill development through authentic learning experiences.Engaging with the wider school community to nurture quality positive relationships between students, parents, teachers and stakeholders across the school and wider community.Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the faculty to achieve goals.A mandatory requirement of this role is:Current full registration, or current provisional registration with eligibility for full registration, as a teacher in Queensland.
