About Ormeau State School
The school prides itself on being a friendly and happy place which aims to maximise the learning potential of each child. This prospectus contains information about the school which is important to new families or prospective parents of the school. It contains many of the school policies and procedures which we hope you will find useful. Ormeau State School has been on this site in Mirambeena Drive since 1986. In this time, the enrolment has grown quite rapidly from one hundred and three children to over 930 in 2019. The school delivers quality educational programs to all our students. Our teachers are always happy to discuss your child's progress and we encourage you to meet with your child's teacher from time to time throughout the year.
Your Opportunity
As the Head of Department (Curriculum) you will: Lead curriculum focus in line with school and departmental initiativesParticipate in delivering the vision of State Schools DivisionDevelop the quality of teaching and learningNurture positive relationships between students, teachers and stakeholders.The Head of Department (Curriculum) is accountable to and under the direction of the Principal or delegate.
Your Role
You will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:
Lead the relevant curriculum areas or whole school program to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.Embed socially just practices in daily school life.Set high standards for student and staff performance.Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.Be futures oriented and strategic.Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling especially in relation to students and staff within the school department.Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the curriculum areas or whole school program to achieve goals.About You
The ideal candidate will have experience in: Prep - 2 Curriculum leadershipSupporting and modelling for teachers in the delivery of Reading through the Australian CurriculumSupporting teachers through the roll out of Australian Curriculum version 9Explicit InstructioneLearning pedagogyWorking alongside a large leadership team to support and coach staff to provide excellent teaching and learning.Please refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.
