We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Department (Curriculum) to lead and enhance our curriculum development initiatives at Geebung Special School.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about education and possess a strong track record in curriculum design and implementation.
This position is offered on a temporary full-time basis for all of 2025 unless otherwise determined.

Geebung Special School is a special school for students of primary and prior to school age (birth to 12) who have intellectual and other disabilities. As the only primary special school in the Brisbane area, our highly skilled teachers are able to utilise specialised approaches to early years learning. The school caters for 115 school-aged students and up to 40 students of pre-compulsory age. All students have been identified as requiring significant educational support arising from intellectual impairment and other disabilities.
Geebung Special School is situated on a large block of land featuring lots of green space. Our school features an orchard and a wide variety of play spaces to promote creative, imaginative, and fun learning opportunities. Our school prides itself on our classrooms designed to promote inquiry learning as well as a purpose-built gymnasium, indoor pool, bike track, sensory garden, oval, and school hall. The setting allows our students to utilise aspects of Nature Play both in and out of the classroom, giving many opportunities to engage with the natural environment.
About the Role
You will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:
Lead the relevant curriculum areas or whole school program to develop, articulate, and commit to a shared educational vision focused on providing quality learning outcomes for all students. Embed socially just practices in daily school life. Set high standards for student and staff performance. Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development. Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups. Please refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.
