About Western Suburbs State Special School Western Suburbs State Special School caters to students with an intellectual disability enrolled from Prep to Senior School. Western Suburbs State Special School seeks to provide an educational environment which will support students in gaining the necessary skills and confidence to engage happily in the community. The school believes all students have the potential to learn and should be provided appropriate and engaging learning experiences which will support appropriate positive post school pathways for its diverse student cohort. About the Role You will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks: Advocate, provide counselling, psychoeducational assessment and individual student support recommendations and advice to students, teachers and parents concerning educational, behavioural, mental health and disability support. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and facilitate effective working relationships and partnerships with parents, school personnel and external support agencies in order to provide a comprehensive support, case management and referral service that optimises students' access and engagement in educational programs. Conduct activities such as student observation and psychoeducational assessment in order to determine the nature of student learning difficulties, disability, developmental levels or psychological and emotional status in order to make recommendations for educational adjustments and interventions. Determining eligibility for enrolment at special school. Assisting the school in the implementation of student protection policies and risk management processes. Ensure that equity of educational access, participation and outcomes for all students is achieved and addresses the individual needs of students. Provide specialist advice and reports about students in areas concerning the nature of disabilities, developmental and psychological status. Interested?
