Attraction and Retention Incentive of $7,000 (see info below)11 percent employer contributions to superannuation12 weeks' vacation leave (school holidays)more than 20 days of other leave, including sick leave and carers' leavesubsidised accommodation where applicable (eligible for salary packaging)free relocation Teachers and school administrators employed at Merredin College in 2024 are eligible to receive an of $7,000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.About the position To be successful in this role, you should model innovative, future-focused thinking and be committed to making a difference in the lives of young people. The successful applicant will ideally possess exceptional interpersonal, organisational and management skills to complement their outstanding leadership capabilities.As a key member of the school's leadership team, it is highly recommended that you will have had recent experience leading The Arts or Technologies in a similar context. You should provide advice and guidance to the Executive Team regarding organisational and operational changes to enhance students' achievement. The ability to analyse student performance data and use this in planning is critical.In collaboration with the Principal and members of the administrative team, the Head of Curriculum – The Arts and Technologies should provide educational leadership in the school and the community by developing and promoting the school vision and encouraging school staff, volunteers from the community and others to share ownership of the school's vision and goals in The Arts and Technologies learning areas.The successful applicant will ideally provide a leadership role across the school in developing and implementing a whole school approach to student learning in The Arts and Technologies contexts. Responsibilities may include the planning, actioning, and reviewing of the various contexts delivered across the school, as well as developing strategies and learning programs to ensure engagement and improved learning outcomes for students. A thorough understanding of curriculums and pathways is highly regarded. Our SchoolMerredin College is a lighthouse rural school providing a high-quality educational program for approximately 600 students from kindergarten to Year 12. Our students live in the Merredin township, travel by bus from nearby towns and reside at Merredin Residential College. The broader community is positively involved with our school.At Merredin College we aim to be the best we can be in everything we do. We cater for a broad range of students, including students with disabilities, providing a range of targeted interventions and varied educational pathways to engage and grow our students. Each year we have students achieving above 90 in ATAR, completion of higher-level certificates, apprenticeships, traineeships and employment.Ideally applicants would have a practical knowledge of Positive Behaviour in Schools (PBS), have the ability to differentiate the curriculum and a pedagogical approach that embraces visible learning. The ability to foster and maintain positive communication with parents will also be highly regarded.Location and CommunityMerredin College is located 256 kilometres east of Perth in the Central Wheatbelt. Positioned on the trainline, the Prospector connects all towns between Perth and Kalgoorlie-Boulder providing convenient travel across the Wheatbelt and Goldfields. There are numerous opportunities for day trips with places such as Wave Rock and Kulin Aquatic Centre and Slide close by. Merredin is located on the Goldfields Heritage Trail providing the avid bushwalker or camper with many opportunities to explore our wonderful country. Those interested in The Arts are also catered for with the Arts Society and Cummins theatre both located in Merredin.As with most country towns, many sports are catered for.
