ABOUT US Camberwell Grammar School is an independent Anglican day school for boys from Pre-Preparatory to Year 12. ABOUT THE ROLE We take pride in offering a broad, inclusive, and dynamic curriculum that celebrates diversity and prepares students to thrive in a global society. As part of our vision, we place great emphasis on developing students' language proficiency and cultural understanding, which is why our Chinese program holds significant importance within our curriculum.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced educator to lead our Chinese Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing curriculum design, teaching and learning standards and extracurricular language activities, enhancing student outcomes and cultural insights. The role will report to the Head of Languages.

Key responsibilities include: Lead and mentor colleagues in the Chinese department, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team. Develop and implement an engaging, comprehensive, and differentiated Chinese language curriculum across all key stages. Teach curriculum across years 7 to 12. Inspire and support both students and staff to reach their full potential. Monitor and evaluate teaching standards and student progress to maintain outstanding outcomes. Organise cultural events, competitions, and activities that promote the appreciation of Chinese language and culture. Liaise with other department heads to integrate cross-curricular learning. This is a full time position that will commence in Term 1 2025 in a progressive, supportive and well-resourced educational environment.

In addition, all teaching staff are required to participate in one season of the AGSV Sports Program (or equivalent) by either coaching or managing a sporting team as part of their overall responsibility, including other minor co-curricular involvement, such as Year Level Camps and our Friday Activities Program.

ABOUT YOU You are a passionate, outstanding educator who can lead by example and model exceptional practice. You are an expert in your field with extensive experience in teaching Chinese and leading a language department.

You will also have:

Relevant teaching qualifications. A degree in Chinese Language, Chinese Studies or a related field. Fluency in both written and spoken Mandarin and a high proficiency in English. A strong understanding of modern teaching methodologies and curriculum design. Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to inspire a love of language learning and cross-cultural understanding.
