Job Description:
Make time, information, and decision processes more effective. Across the business, the Interim Head of Business Operations will employ humility, maturity, and situational sensitivity to drive the business forward while anticipating problems, cutting through bureaucracy and guiding action. Along the way, the Interim Head of Business Operations will act as an integrator connecting work streams and people that would otherwise remain siloed, a communicator linking the leadership team and the broader organization, honest broker and truth teller when leadership needs a wide-ranging view without turf considerations, and a confidant without an organizational agenda.
In summary, the Interim Head of Business Operations will act as an operational linchpin and strategic facilitator within eBay AU, a role that is fundamental to the smooth functioning and continuous optimization of the team.
Key Responsibilities:
Run our operational cadences, both the Australian (weekly, fortnightly, quarterly) and upwards (monthly WBR, etc.) ones.
Assume a variety of responsibilities, including filling gaps for the Managing Director (MD) and Management Team (MT). This may include such activities as overseeing key supporting functions in the business (e.g., Payments) and managing preparation for executive visits.
Help identify major blind spots or problems in the organization and make recommendations on how to efficiently address them. Make recommendations to restructure the flow of work and internal processes to maximize efficiency.
Act as a strategic thought partner to the country manager and executive team.
Support, oversee, or directly manage the execution of strategic initiatives, creating and/or refining processes and keeping track of progress.
Lead business planning within Australia and across regions. (This will be in partnership with our Strategy lead when she returns from leave.)
Assess inquiries directed to the executive team, determine the proper course of action, and delegate to the appropriate individual to manage.
Maintain a bird's-eye view of company/regional operations and team culture and provide insights to the executive team to improve team effectiveness and satisfaction.
Qualifications:
Strong leadership skills and the ability to approach situations from a strategic standpoint.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with staff at all levels and across teams, functions, and regions.
Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and maintain a professional demeanor during times of high stress.
Adept at problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution.
Experience in project management, with a proven track record of successfully completing projects from inception to completion.
A high level of discretion and confidentiality for both business and personal affairs of the MT.
