Management - Schools (Education & Training) Full time Tec-NQ is an Independent Senior Secondary School and Registered Training Organisation (RTO) delivering education and training to the Townsville and North Queensland region, including full-time apprentice training, on-demand industry training, pre-employment programs, and school-based apprentice programs.
Vocational training is provided across broad industry areas including Construction, Electro-technology, Engineering, Automotive, and Health.
Tec-NQ Boarding is a newly constructed, purpose-built student accommodation facility located within 5kms of Townsville CBD.
The facility provides the opportunity for up to 40 regional and remote students to access training and education services provided by Tec-NQ.
About the Role We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as the Head of Boarding School.
This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the boarding program, ensuring the safety and well-being of students, and creating a positive and supportive environment for all residents.
Shift work and weekend work is included.
Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the smooth running of the boarding program.
Manage a team of residential staff, including hiring, training, and performance management.
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the boarding program, including room assignments, meal planning, and extracurricular activities.
Work closely with school leadership to develop and implement strategic goals for the boarding program.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to address any concerns or issues that may arise.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines related to boarding school operations.
Selection Criteria: Bachelor's degree in education, counselling, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role within a boarding school setting.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
Knowledge of best practices in boarding school management.
Current Passenger Transport Drivers Authority or the ability to obtain.
Queensland 'Blue Card' to work with children or the eligibility to attain.
Current Australian Drivers License.
Current First Aid & CPR Certificate.
Safety Food Handling Certificate or the ability to obtain.
Current Light Rigid Australian Drivers licence and the capability to drive a Coaster Bus or the ability to obtain.
