Our client is the largest integrated construction materials company in Australia, producing and selling a broad range of construction materials, including quarry products, cement, concrete, asphalt, and recycled materials. Employing circa 9,100 employees and contractors nationally, their extensive footprint includes some 357 operating sites nationally.Located in North Ryde, today they are seeking to appoint a Head of Fixed Assets & Maintenance to establish standards, drive efficiency and improve production availability of its core assets. Your purpose is to optimise and integrate a Manufacturing Production Centre of Excellence across their multi-site manufacturing operation – one that maximises production availability, efficiency and total cost of ownership (TCO) of each asset. Reporting into the EGM, you are charged with proactively identifying best in class systems and processes that result in maximising their resources & significant asset investments.Your key duties and responsibilities will include:LeadershipDemonstrated ability to manage multiple departments/sites and improvement projects, preparing short and long term goals focusing on company KPI's to underpin production availabilityOversee production control groups and maintenance scheduling and delivery for their multisite manufacturing operationsEnsure compliance with relevant ISO, GMP and OSHA standardsEngineeringApplying your Engineering expertise to create an asset management & maintenance best in class framework and program, achieving standardisation of systems and processes across their 24/7 multi-site manufacturing operation, directly impacting 340 internal resources, 5 types of manufacturing facilities, including mines, batching plants and their associated assets.StandardisationThe creation of best in class process standardisations for their asset maintenance programs, ensuring robust and effective frameworks are designed and integrated consistently across sites nationally, maximising resources, safety and throughput (production availability).CommercialityCombining and applying your technical competence as an Executive Production Engineer with your high degree of commercial acumenThe utilisation of your advanced analytical skills to support your preference for evidenced based decision makingProactively managing/working with complexity.Supporting the analysis and design of a vendor strategies, working in collaboration with the Head of Procurement & Head of H&S to identify best in class solutionsThe development of standards – including clear measurement of upstream throughput and productivityUtilisation of Maximo (asset maintenance tool), developing of reporting protocols to measure and monitor the effectiveness of maintenance schedule compliance to maximise the life span of assetsContinuous ImprovementProactively manage projects that enhance organisational capability and responsiveness, collaborating with operational managers to continuously improve production processes, systems and policies, maximising asset utilisationThe design, integration and compliance management of best in class asset maintenance schedules to support production availabilityGovernance, Financial Management and ReportingDevelop policies, processes, practices and standards to achieve a consistent approach, one that achieves compliance to their multi-site operations maintenance schedules, (with circa $350m annual maintenance spend - this is a significant operation)Ensure proper Governance processes with regard to maintenance scheduling and reporting.Provide financial and commercial advice to the business in regards to prospective tenders, mergers, acquisitions and divestments re production throughputs/costs etcMonitor, review and report on performance of each sites production assetsWhat you will bring to this role:Demonstrated leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, with an Engineering expertise coupled with knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.Experience as a Head of Fixed Asset and Maintenance or Executive production availability role, proactively leading multi-site manufacturing centre of excellence, to maximise productivityStrong mechanical and technical aptitude, working in machine-based operations.Experience in the analysis / design of vendor strategies, working in collaboration with the Head of Procurement & Head of H&S to identify best in class solutionsStrong Safety focus with a preventative/proactive approach and the ability to manage any OH&S issues to resolution.A preference to create frameworks and identify best in class standardisation practices to maximise plant throughputsA desire to continually seek efficiency and quality improvements with production, design and manufacturing standards;An ability to work autonomously and adapt quickly to changing technical/business priorities;Highly organised and deadline driven.Strong decision-making, negotiation and influencing skills.Project Management and Change management expertiseA highly collaborative style/approach, with proven success engaging a wide stakeholder group to drive/deliver significant improvements in asset utilisation and maintenance schedule complianceA high level of customer centricity, with proven success managing stakeholder expectations/needs.Demonstrated experience collaborating with operational leaders to support the standardisation of systems and programs, whilst also working with HR, Procurement and HSE functions to reduce opportunity for harm as systems are streamlinedA high level numerical and analytical skills.Well-structured written and verbal communication skillsA consultative hands on approach with a diverse workforceStrong negotiation and influencing skills.A results orientation – with a preference for getting things done!So, what's in it for you?Circa $330k package + STI + a unique career opportunityThe opportunity to take on the fixed asset maintenance management (annual spend of ~$350m) and make a real difference to the organisations bottom line, identifying significant efficiencies, along with a safer and well maintained manufacturing operation.A unique opportunity to design and integrate a Centre of Excellence in Manufacturing/production for a large and complex multi-site Iconic industrial organisationThis is genuinely an exciting career opportunity for a talented National Head of Fixed Assets & Maintenance to establish standards, drive efficiency and improve production availability of core assets, optimising & integrating a Manufacturing Production Centre of Excellence across multi-site manufacturing operations.
