You will be someone that sees Architecture & Software Engineering as an enabling design function helping AFG achieve this, not a centralised ivory tower team.
You will like a challenge and be confident and excited to take on the direction, design, build and run of the entire AFG Technology systems and integration landscape including current, interim, target and delivery states.

Responsibilities include: Lead , uplift, coach, and mentor a team of highly skilled managers, solution architects, technical product owners, analysts and engineers ensuring we retain our highly engaged, skilled, experienced team members who are practical and delivery orientated.
Collaborate and build trusted relationships with key people in Digital & Technology and across the business to ensure there is a strong understanding of customer needs, business needs, individual needs (incentives drive behaviour), drivers and priorities - always looking for win-win outcomes where possible.
Deliver incremental value while moving towards an articulated and bought into target state, driving technology investment that is enabling, effective, and efficient.
Evolve , embed, and continually propel the AFG digital operating model with other Digital & Technology team members and business leaders.
Drive process ensuring collaborative guard rails and governance are in place to ensure the chapter is open, inclusive, visible, collaborative, and accountable to Digital & Technology and the business.
Ensure AFG systems and integration landscape states (current, interim, target) are articulated, bought into, and tracked - including health and risks.
What you will bring: A bachelor's degree or higher (highly desirable).
Relevant industry certifications (agile processes and cloud technologies highly desirable).
Experience in a mix of team leading, software architecture, and software engineering roles including leading people in a team preferably as a Chapter (enabling function).
Experience in the entire Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) – requirements, design, build, delivery, support, maintenance.
Experience across several different types and sizes of projects, teams, and systems.
You can articulate where they succeeded and failed, and why.
Experience in modern software development processes – agile, CI/CD.
Experience in modern software development technologies and approaches – cloud, web apps and APIs, monoliths, modular monoliths, serverless etc.
Experience and deep knowledge of the financial services domain desirable.
