Head of Academic Talent Development Programs Senior School Commencing January 2025 The Southport School (TSS) is a leading Anglican Day and Boarding school for boys situated on the banks of the beautiful Nerang River in the heart of the Gold Coast. The Southport School has been established for over 120 years and is committed to providing a wholistic education for boys focused on excellence in leadership, learning and teaching, pastoral care and extra-curricular endeavors within a balanced Christian environment.
TSS is seeking a full time Head of Academic Talent Development (ATD) programs, who will continue to develop, drive and implement a strong ATD program on our senior campus for students in years 7 to 12.
The school is seeking an outstanding educator with a positive sense of self, high levels of empathy, leadership and well-developed advocacy skills. You must be an intuitive, vibrant self-starter who is intellectually agile with high levels of critical and creative thinking that is focused on supporting boys' learning outcomes through innovative learning and teaching practices.
To be successful in the role, candidates should be able to demonstrate experience in the following key areas of responsibilities:
Exhibit strong commitment to gifted education and a thorough understanding of talent development and acceleration strategies with a demonstrated ability to profile and tailor pathways for gifted boys from years 7 – 12. Collaborate with additional learning needs team and the Director of ATD at the Preparatory School to ensure best practice and seamless student transition to senior school. Design and deliver ATD programs with quality instruction. Current ATD programs include: F1 STEM, Model United Nations (MUN), daVinci Decathlon, Tournament of Minds, Write a Book in a Day, and Future Problem Solving, in addition to organising online competitions such as ICAS, APSMO, and AMT programs and attendance at events such as World Science Festival.
