The role
Full time, Fixed term (up to 5 years)
Senior remuneration package
We are seeking an exceptional candidate to join us in the newly created position of Head, Communications and Government Relations.
This role offers an experienced senior leader the opportunity to make a meaningful impact. Advocating for the university and creating influence with a range of stakeholders and communities you will build our reputation and connection with community, industry, and government. You will be empowered to drive significant change and build organisational capability in this important role.
The successful candidate will lead the university's communications and government relations functions. Reporting to the Executive Director, Engagement and Enterprise, the role will be accountable for the development and implementation of strategies to support organisational objectives, and that strengthen our position as a key institution within a higher education and regional context.

Media and Public Relations
Government Relations
External Communications
Internal Communications
Digital and social media communications
Local Area media and communications
About you
To be considered you will have executive level leadership experience within large, complex environments. You will have extensive experience, expertise and demonstrated success in strategic communications and government relations capacities.
To succeed you will have superior stakeholder management, influencing, and leadership capabilities. You will have demonstrated success leading and implementing change, building capability, and keeping people engaged along the way.

The Office of Engagement and Enterprise leads the following activities:
Charles Sturt Engagement Strategy 2030
Charles Sturt University Business Development and Enterprise
Initiation of strategic partnerships
Strategic external engagement activities across the Universitys footprint, including Charles Sturt Regional Engagement Plans and government relations
Public relations, media and communications
Advancement and philanthropic activities
The Office provides strategic leadership, expertise, and a range of services to support whole-of-University goals associated with its commercial and strategic intent. In achieving these goals, the Office collaborates with a broad network of external stakeholders. In addition, the Office works with all areas of the Charles Sturt community to build university capability and develop a strong and integrated approach to business development, community engagement, internal and external communications, government relations and advancement.
