About the Role Through our co-curricular activities, including our Rowing Program, St Catherine's School aims to equip all students with the necessary knowledge, understanding and skills to develop their resilience, independence, creativity, and boldness. The appointment of a Head Coach – Rowing provides an exciting opportunity for the successful incumbent to align the Rowing program with our co-curricular framework. While proven success in high level rowing coaching is imperative for this role, this position is as much about leading people, strategy, and culture, and ensuring alignment with school values, as well as the ability to foster high level performance through significant knowledge and ability to communicate the technicalities of rowing. The Head Coach – Rowing will be responsible for the technical leadership and vision in developing an exemplary Rowing Program, including the implementation of an effective rowing coach structure, leadership, oversight and mentoring of rowing coaches, and growing the program across both participation and performance streams, while retaining a strong focus on school values and student wellbeing. This is an ongoing, full-time role position with the school, with the requirement to attend morning, afternoon and weekend training sessions and regattas. Due to the seasonal nature of the role, the successful incumbent will also be expected to be involved in other aspects of the school, across the School year, beyond the Rowing program. To be successful in this opportunity you will require: Tertiary qualifications in Sports Science, Exercise Physiology, Sports Psychology or Physical Education with a proven contemporary knowledge of sports physiology, biomechanics and girls' health and wellbeing.Strong technical rowing knowledge with the ability to use this knowledge to communicate a strategic rowing vision to staff, students, and parents. Experience of developing and successfully implementing a high-performance rowing program within an independent girls' school environment. A proven ability to inspire, mentor and develop coaches at all levels within a coaching framework.A proven ability to lead people, strategy, and culture, and ensure alignment with school or organisational values.A track record of achieving successful racing performances in rowing, through the implementation of a program which utilises multilateral and long-term athletic development strategies. Strong skills in use of rowing-specific technologies and data management and analysis.Willingness to work on weekends and outside of regular school hours.Well-developed interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.Proven conflict resolution experience and skills, with the ability to take a balanced perspective when making decisions.Outstanding organisational skills, with adaptability, resilience, and high-level problem-solving abilities.A high level and contemporary understanding of risk management, OHS, water safety, child safe standards, staff conduct requirements, pastoral and duty of care responsibilities involved in coaching young people.First Aid qualifications. Willingness to uphold the ethos and values of the School at all times. Heavy Vehicle Licence and Boat Licence.Level 2 NCAS Rowing accreditation.Current Working with Children Check and Current Police Check.Why work for us?
