Job DescriptionPosition Objective
To maintain and significantly improve upon an efficient, professional operation with high quality and presentation of product and delivery of service to all clients: Ensuring staff motivation and training is always maximized. Control, manage, analyze all food services, kitchen functionality and staff performance and be accountable to the overall food operation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities Ensure that all aspects of the day-to-day operations are technically correct and within established guidelines.Research and recommend new menu items based on concept and market trends.Provide full menu execution support with standard recipes, preparation, appropriate cost control.Review all costs, related matters and advise on possible areas where improvement costs or improved quality is achievable.Provide hands-on assistance with the day-to-day training of kitchen chefs and staff.Ensure all kitchen staff are trained in the correct operational procedures in place.Work closely with the Catering Manager with ordering and procurement of food supplies.Regard health and safety of staff and visitors to the school as a priority.Attend meetings and participate in training programs when requested.Management Maintain appropriate relationships with all employees.Maintain and enforce BGS policies and code of conduct.Manage and recommend appropriate action for all repairs and maintenance of kitchen equipment, fixtures, and fittings.Adhere to all legislative requirements relating to food safety.Attend meetings as required.Undertake responsible tasks as assigned by the Catering Manager.Additional Information / Other Functions and Responsibilities Perform duties, also aid, and undertake any duties within the role as directed by the Catering Manager.Assist Catering Manager to achieve results in line with budgets.Promote a cohesive and healthy work environment with all stakeholders.Procurement and purchasing of goods, receipting compliance.Deal with complaints promptly and amicably.Ensure compliance with food standards.Willingness to learn more to improve job performance.Physical Requirements / Work Environment Food production and handling.Meet all work demands and requirements.Punctuality.Hours of work
This position is Salaried 45 hours per week term time with time in lieu, rostered Monday – Sunday to meet the operational demands. Flexibility will be required in this role.
Desired Skills and ExperienceStrong knowledge of food procedures and processes.Ability to work within a diverse team environment.Health and Safety awareness of food service.Maintain good client and staff relationships.Ensure correctly selected chemicals and methods are used for cleaning.Manage workflow demands and processes.Flexibility to workload and demands.Understanding of portion control measures, storage and handling, and wastage.Required Licenses / Certifications A positive notice and a blue card through the Public Safety Business Agency (PSBA).Chemical safety and handling.Commercial cooks/trade certificate.Workplace hygiene procedures.Occupational health and safety.Food Safety Certification (I'm Alert).Application Process
