Position details Principal Education Officer (PEO)Full-time temporary role for 3 yearsClose to Wynyard station & hybrid work arrangements availableAbout the role: The Head of Assessment Reform at the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) plays a crucial role in shaping the future of student assessments in NSW. This leadership position offers an exciting opportunity to drive key assessment and examination projects, ensuring they meet the high standards and evolving needs of our education system. In this role, you will lead a dedicated team of professionals and collaborate across various departments to develop assessment materials that support student success across the state. We are seeking a strategic thinker with a passion for educational reform, poised to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students and educators alike.
On a day-to-day basis, you will be responsible for: Leading the development and delivery of assessment and examination support materials for the Stage 6 syllabus.Managing and mentoring a team of assessment officers to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards.Developing and implementing project plans, while effectively managing resources and timelines.Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including Curriculum teams, schools, and teachers, to advance assessment projects.Monitoring and integrating national and international trends in educational assessment and examination practices.Providing expert advice to senior leadership on assessment projects and identifying emerging risks and solutions.Our ideal candidate will have: Relevant tertiary qualifications in secondary education.A strong understanding of the NSW Curriculum Reform agenda, along with current assessment and examination policies, trends, and legislation.Proven experience in leading teams and managing complex projects within set deadlines and resource constraints.Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to foster relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.A strategic mindset, with the ability to balance competing demands and priorities.Working with children check clearance for paid employment (prior to commencement, not required at the application stage).Ready to join us?
