Accountant Well-rounded accountant required by a leading private education provider in Melbourne.
Your new company This is a highly regarded and well-known independent (private) education provider based in Melbourne East that is looking to recruit a well-rounded accountant for their business services team. The education provider has a modern, holistic approach to work, and this is an excellent role for an established and experienced accountant to progress in your career.
Your new role This is a 'full-service' and stand-alone accounting position for the organisation. This means you will lead all accounting, compliance, and financial regulation aspects from start to finish, and be the face of the accounting and finance team. Your main responsibilities will be:
Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable - including managing debtor/creditor relations and chasing late payments. Conduct weekly budgets, forecasts, and reporting matters to a high standard, often liaising with board and committee members. Conduct payroll for the organisation, which is for roughly 60 staff. Conduct taxation matters when required, such as BAS, FBT, PRT preparations. Assist with an efficient budget and forecasting process, whilst working closely with the business manager. Maintain a clean balance sheet and input all compliance correctly. Identify ways to further enhance and streamline the finance function for the organisation. What you'll need to succeed In order to be considered for this role, you will:
Be a qualified accountant (CPA or CA, or relevant overseas qualification), or be qualified by experience. Ideally, have a minimum of 5 years accounting experience from a similar reputable organisation - ideally (but not essential) from an education, NFP, or public sector background. Be able to manage all processes within a small but busy finance function, including start-to-finish payroll, AP, AR, reporting, budgets, forecasting, management and financial accounting work. Show strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of liaising with internal and external stakeholders, conflict management, and explaining complex financial information in simple terms. Have a high standard of presentation, and be a good team player in a medium-sized business. What you'll get in return This role offers a competitive all-round package for the right person. This includes:
Salary between $100,000 to $120,000 plus superannuation (with some flexibility depending on your experience). 5 weeks of annual leave, with a view to this being increased. Ideally, this would be taken over education holidays. 15 days of sick leave annually. You will have full ownership and extensive exposure to all finance processes within the organisation, which offers excellent career development opportunities. Free parking on site, which is based in Melbourne's Eastern Suburbs. This role is a full-time office role, although there is scope for some flexible work following the completion of probation.
