This position is based in Gympie.Remuneration : Annual salary commencing at $93,611, plus up to 13% superannuation.Closing Date : Sunday 12th January 2025 at 11.00pm AEST.Role OverviewThe Senior Officer Business Analyst plays a critical role in managing information flow and providing expert advice to support decision-making.
This position is responsible for assessing, developing, and implementing performance indicators to monitor business performance, while identifying potential issues and risks.Working under general direction, the Senior Officer will maintain and optimise reporting structures and systems, ensuring data is validated and certified for effective business use.
A key responsibility is enhancing data analytics capabilities within the Water branch, delivering valuable insights to drive informed business decisions.Additionally, this role will focus on generating business value through data analytics, contributing to process automation and supporting business-as-usual operations via dashboards and applications.Advanced Data Analytics Expertise - Strong knowledge of data analytics tools, techniques, and methodologies to extract, analyse, and interpret data for actionable insights.Business Performance Monitoring - Proficiency in developing and managing key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance metrics to track and enhance business outcomes.Reporting and Data Management Systems - Experience in maintaining and optimising business reporting systems, ensuring data accuracy, validation, and certification for business use with the ability to analyse data to uncover potential business risks.Process Automation Skills - Ability to design and implement automated solutions to streamline business-as-usual (BAU) processes, using dashboards, applications, and other tools.Data Visualisation and Dashboarding - Expertise in creating and using data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to present complex data in an understandable and actionable format.Stakeholder Communication and Collaboration - Excellent communication skills to effectively convey insights and recommendations to a range of stakeholders, including non-technical audiences.Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking - Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to analyse business challenges and recommend data-driven solutions.Attention to Detail and Data Integrity - High attention to detail in managing and validating data, ensuring accuracy and integrity in business reporting and analytics processes.Knowledge of Industry Best Practices - Strong understanding of industry trends, tools, and best practices in data analytics, business intelligence, and performance management.Technical Proficiency - Competence with various software and tools for data analytics (e.g., SQL, Excel, Python, R) and experience in leveraging them to support business reporting and decision-making.Manage Information Flow - Proactively manage and oversee the flow of business-critical information to ensure timely and accurate communication across the organisation.Specialist Advice - Provide expert advice to key stakeholders on performance indicators, data analytics, and risk management to support informed decision-making.Performance Monitoring and Reporting - Develop, deploy, and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and assess business performance, identifying potential risks and issues.Business Reporting Systems - Maintain and optimise reporting structures and systems, ensuring all data is validated, certified, and aligned with business needs.Data Analytics Enhancement - Lead initiatives to build and enhance data analytics capabilities within the Water branch, enabling deeper insights and data-driven decision-making.Process Automation - Drive the automation of business-as-usual (BAU) processes through the use of dashboards, applications, and advanced data analytics techniques.Risk Identification and Mitigation - Proactively identify business risks through data analysis, recommending strategies for mitigation and continuous improvement.Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement - Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to understand business needs and deliver actionable insights through data and reporting tools.Support Business Decision-Making - Generate valuable business insights from data analytics to inform strategic business decisions and contribute to operational efficiency.Continuous Improvement - Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and best practices in data analytics and business intelligence to continuously enhance the role's effectiveness.Liaise closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure a responsive, high-quality service that enhances the customer experience.Foster positive relationships within the Water branch and across Council directorates.Our ValuesAccountabilityCommunicationCustomer Service FocusedIntegrityTeamwork and CollaborationOur ProcessSuccessful applicants will be required to undertake various checks such as skills, qualifications, reference, medical and national police.Keen to apply - Simply head to Council's website and follow the "Careers at Council" link to submit your online application :Please note before continuing: It is advisable that you prepare your responses in a separate word or text document, saving your work as you go and that you then copy and paste this prepared information in the form before completing the application process.
