The purpose of this role is to support the Agricultural Autonomy Specialist in the execution of annual Orchard sprays. 30th September, 2024 ofi is a leading global integrated supply chain manager, processor, and grower of agricultural products and food ingredients, supplying various products across 16 platforms to over 13,000 customers worldwide. In Australia & New Zealand, we operate in multiple products including cocoa, dairy, and almonds. This role is located at our Kerarbury Orchard in the Darlington Point region in NSW. The salary scope for this role is $75,000 - $80,000 plus superannuation. Key Accountabilities: Autonomous Vehicle Controller Operation of the Autonomous Vehicles (GUSS) in an effective and safe manner. Ensure the yield and best quality of crops with the collaboration of GUSS, California & OLAM, Australia, farm managers, agronomists & other stakeholders. Induction & Training of new team members and casual staff members to implement the GUSS program efficiently. Assessing the work efficiency of team members and casual staff to implement the spray in a given period, manner, and quantity. Ensure the safety of all team members, contractors, and any visitors on site. Agronomy & Irrigation Agronomy and irrigation tasks including ensuring orchard hygiene and identifying trees affected by disease. Guaranteeing environmental protection through the correct use of pest and disease spray. Collecting samples of produce, feed, soil, and other factors affecting production. Implementation of fungicides, insecticides, and pesticides for the good health of crops. Completing pruning activities as required to enhance future yield and operate irrigation and fertigation systems appropriately. Operating the Irri Net system as required – start/stop system and the chlorination system safely. Quality control and quality assurance. Assessment and evaluation of spray coverage and find improvements. Bringing positive improvements in spray efficiency and coverage to counter disease outbreaks and ensure good crop health. Communication Communicating with site managers regarding GUSS spraying requirements and directing operational staff while GUSS is in operation. Maintenance & Repairs Identify maintenance issues and communicate to the Maintenance Controller; perform minor repairs in the field when required. Orchard machinery maintenance including daily checks of machines along with pre-start checks and ensuring all orchard machinery is safely and correctly set up to operate. Key Skills Experience Two years' experience in the Almond or horticultural sector.Skills Demonstrated ability to operate farm machinery, a comprehensive understanding of the different applications for pesticides and herbicides, and smart farming technology. Intermediate computer skills.Qualifications Relevant tertiary qualification and Chemcert certificate.Only Australian-based employees with full work rights need apply.
