We believe that music is a mind, body, and spirit experience, and should be accessible to all, focusing on helping older adults achieve their goals with guitar music.We offer a range of guitar classes from beginner to advanced levels, holding face-to-face classes across Canberra, ACT in Wanniassa, Downer, and Gungahlin.Type: Casual - up to 13 hours a week during daytime from Tue-Fri.When: Starting in February 2025We are looking for an enthusiastic guitar teacher with a flair for entertainment to join our team, who is also willing to perform and lead music activities in aged care homes.Who You AreWhat we're looking for:A competent guitarist with performance experience and knowledge of music theory. Experience in a variety of styles (e.g., contemporary, classical, jazz) and ability to read guitar tabs and sheet music.A Bachelor of Music or vocational training in music is highly regarded, though not a requirement.At least 2 years' experience in teaching guitar or music, either privately or with another organization.Comfortable singing in front of a group.Enjoys working with older adults and understands their learning needs.Reliable, organized, and able to work independently.Experience working with aged care is valued.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Has WWVP Card.Teacher: The teacher plays a vital role in delivering high-quality guitar classes to adults over 50, creating an enjoyable and engaging learning environment. Their primary responsibility is to foster a comfortable pace for students to learn the guitar while connecting with peers.Music Activity Leader (MAL): The MAL visits aged care residents to perform and lead sing-along sessions on the guitar, learning and playing popular songs, sometimes requested by residents.
