We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Guidance Officer to join our team at William Duncan State School.
The successful candidate will work as part of our support team and will be responsible for providing comprehensive support to students helping them navigate academic, personal, and social challenges. The Guidance Officer will work closely with students, parents, and staff to promote a positive school environment and enhance student wellbeing.
The position is offered on a temporary full-time basis until 04 April 2025, unless otherwise determined.

About William Duncan State School William Duncan State School has a proud history of serving the community of Highland Park on the Gold Coast since 1987. As a co-educational school of around 600 students from Prep to Year 6 we aim for a balance of academic, cultural, and sporting achievement whilst maintaining high expectations for student behaviour and appearance.
Our school offers an inclusive approach to learning, supporting the needs of all students. Our students are fortunate to be immersed in specialised classroom lessons including Music, HPE, Japanese, Health, STEaM, and The Arts. About the Role As the Guidance Officer you will:
Provide professional expertise, leadership, and support to school communities and networks in the development and implementation of plans, programs, and procedures to assist students in achieving positive educational, developmental, and lifelong learning outcomes. Collaboratively negotiate, develop, and implement programs for students that have a focus on preventative and early intervention strategies, are responsive to identified personal, social, emotional, and educational needs; and aim to foster resilience and personal skills development. Guidance Officers contribute towards, and are accountable for the provision of a comprehensive student support program that is responsive to the identified and changing needs of students. The program will be negotiated with and authorised by a line-manager identified by the Principal. Guidance Officers are required to provide this service in collaborating with other school-based personnel and external support providers in a variety of educational contexts.
Guidance Officers are required to participate in regular clinics and technical supervision with a Senior Guidance Officer or their nominee, to ensure the provision of ongoing professional support and development.
