Guidance Officer - Student Wellbeing Package - Tewantin State School and Noosaville State SchoolSunshine Coast Regional, Australia
Department of Education QLD A unique temporary, part-time position is available for a qualified Guidance Officer to work at two primary schools (0.6FTE and 30 hours per fortnight) within the North Coast Region.
This Guidance Officer, Wellbeing position provides direct support to students with mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
Whilst Guidance Officers - Wellbeing are employed under the department's generic Guidance Officer role description, this is a specialist role whose day-to-day activities and responsibilities align with the aim of the Student Wellbeing Package.
This is a temporary 0.6FTE position for Term 1, 2025, unless otherwise determined.

About the Role Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Develop and implement counselling and support programs for students that focus on preventative and early intervention strategies, responsive to identified personal, social, emotional, and educational needs, and aim to foster resilience and personal skills development.Provide professional expertise, leadership, and support to school communities and networks in the development and implementation of plans, programs, and adjustments to assist students with mild to moderate mental health/wellbeing concerns to achieve positive educational, developmental, and lifelong learning outcomes.Advocate for and provide counselling and therapeutic intervention to individuals and/or groups, and provide student support, recommendations, and advice to teachers, school staff, and parents concerning mild to moderate mental health and wellbeing concerns.Support a cluster of schools to build the capability of school staff through providing advice, support, and expertise relating to individual students with mild to moderate mental health and wellbeing concerns.Identify needs and refer children, parents, and families to community agencies, or in the instance of severe or critical mental health concerns.Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and facilitate effective working relationships and partnerships with parents, school personnel, and external support agencies to provide comprehensive support, case management, and referral services that optimize students' access and engagement in educational programs.Conduct activities such as student observation and psychoeducational assessment to determine the nature of student wellbeing concerns and make recommendations for educational adjustments and interventions.Balance the ethical issues of privacy and confidentiality for each student with the appropriateness of sharing information with others, and maintain a comprehensive and professional record-keeping system that complies with policy and legal requirements of parental and legal access to official records.Participate in relevant professional development and prepare and implement professional and personal skill development programs and in-service activities for administrators, teachers, and parents.How to Apply Applicants are requested to provide: A CV (maximum 2 pages) with contact details of 2 references (referees should have an understanding of your relevant previous work history).A written statement (maximum 2 pages) addressing key capabilities 1-4 as per the role description.We welcome all applicants to share any support needed to ensure our recruitment process is inclusive.
