Mackay West State School is seeking an experienced Guidance Officer for a temporary full-time position commencing 23 January 2025 until 12 December 2025, unless otherwise determined.
As a Guidance Officer, you will be an integral part of our secondary teaching team, providing expertise, leadership, and professional support to our students and school community.
You will bring a passion for providing a comprehensive and responsive student support program to our College, along with a strong desire to engage, connect, and enhance learning outcomes for our students.

About the Role Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and facilitate effective working relationships and partnerships with parents, school personnel, and external support agencies in order to provide a comprehensive support, case management, and referral service that optimizes students' access and engagement in educational programs.Provide a counselling and referral service to assist students in decision-making about critical educational, personal, social, emotional, and career development, and provide ongoing support during the implementation phase of their decision.Conduct activities such as student observation and psychoeducational assessment in order to determine the nature of student learning difficulties, disability, developmental levels, or psychological and emotional status in order to make recommendations for educational adjustments and interventions.Please refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.
