Guidance Officer (3 Positions) - Gympie Geographic Area, North Coast Region Education (Organisation site )
North Coast Region, Early Childhood and State Schools Division
North Coast Region are seeking enthusiastic applicants to fill three Guidance Officer positions across schools in the Gympie Geographic Area, these positions include:

• Two (1.0 FTE) developmental Guidance Officer positions delivering services to primary and P-10 schools as far west as Kilkivan, north to Glenwood and south into the Mary Valley as well as including a P-12 Special School.

• One (0.8 FTE) Guidance Officer position at Gympie South State School. This is a combined role of General Guidance (0.5 FTE) and Wellbeing Professional Guidance (0.3 FTE) and a unique opportunity to work across dual GO roles within a school's support.

Guidance Officers are generally placed at a larger base school and provide Guidance Services to a range of smaller schools within a circuit arrangement, which is reviewed on an annual basis dependent on school operational needs.

About the Role As the Guidance Officer you will:
provide professional expertise, leadership and support to school communities and networks in the development and implementation of plans, programs, and procedures to assist students in achieving positive educational, developmental and lifelong learning outcomescollaboratively negotiate, develop and implement programs for students that have a focus on preventative and early intervention strategies; are responsive to identified personal, social, emotional and educational needs; and aim to foster resilience and personal skills development.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Advocate, provide counselling, psychoeducational assessment and individual student support, recommendations and advice to students, teachers and parents concerning educational, behavioural, career development, mental health and family issues.Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and facilitate effective working relationships and partnerships with parents, school personnel and external support agencies in order to provide a comprehensive support, case management and referral service that optimises students' access and engagement in educational programs.Provide a counselling and referral service to assist students in decision making about critical educational, personal, social, emotional and career development, and provide ongoing support during the implementation phase of their decision.Please refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.  How to Apply Please attach a brief resume including contact details for 2 referees (referees should have an understanding of your relevant previous work history); andA 2-pg written statement in response to the attached role description.We welcome all applicants to share any support needed to ensure our recruitment process is inclusive.  Applications remain current for 12 months from the closing date and may be considered for appointment to identical or similar vacancies within the Department.
