27th November, 2024 Position : Guardian Start : ASAP Duration : 3 months Hours : 35 hours per week Salary : $40.50 per hour plus superannuation Location : Wollongong NSW Working from Home (WFH) will be available once induction period is completed, and supervisor is satisfied the person can work independently.
3 days in office and 2 days at home, where the successful candidate will have a suitable WFH setup.
Overview   Are you an experienced Welfare Worker looking for a short-term contract role?
Our client is Wollongong based and seeking individuals with a strong background in NDIS, Aged Care or iCare.
A Bachelor's Degree is essential along with being well written, and an understanding of legal proceedings is an advantage.
Primary Purpose of the Position Provide professional support to the daily living and changing life needs for people with disability and promote their independence, skill development and community engagement through a person-centred approach.
Key Accountabilities Conduct visits to represented people as part of the decision-making process and understand the views, will and preference of the represented person, developing and implementing decision making plans, procedures and activities that attempt to resolve issues.
Provide information to the public as well as respond to enquiries by professional staff, service providers and customers.
Make, implement and monitor decisions within delegated authority to best serve the interests of people under guardianship while adhering to legislation and procedural guidelines.
Undertake actions mostly of an individual case related nature and conduct activities based on agreed actions plans with the guidance of their supervisor and the Manager.
Develop knowledge and experience of local services and key support infrastructure.
Understand regional demographics, socio-economic profile and community needs.
Ensure guardianship matters are monitored and appropriate actions taken in line with the individual guardianship order, relevant policy, standards and the Guardianship Act 1987 (NSW).
This includes identifying matters for early discharge to be taken to the Tribunal.
Ensure the exchange of information with represented people, family, and key stakeholders is accurate and timely and at all times compliant with relevant legislation including the Privacy and Personal Protection Information Act 1998, the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002 and the State Records Act 1998.
Prepare well-reasoned reports to the Guardianship Division of the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT) on relevant matters and attend hearings where required.
Key challenges In complex and urgent situations apply standard practice and policy to provide a responsive and timely service that meets the immediate and ongoing needs of the represented person.
It may be necessary to work with key stakeholders, including other delegated guardianship staff to support the decision-making process.
Work collaboratively and respond to customers and stakeholders in a responsible and empathetic manner on a range of issues.
Guardians seek the views of the customer and significant others where relevant, liaising with service providers as to the range of options available to the customer, or negotiating treatment plans with medical and dental practitioners to achieve the best possible outcome for the customer in line with the Principles of the Guardianship Act.
