Job Advert : System Safety Engineering Discipline Manager (SSEDM)Location : Queensland, AustraliaContract Type : Full-Time, PermanentAbout the Role :We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced System Safety Engineering Discipline Manager (SSEDM) to lead and manage our Safety Engineering technical discipline.
This role is critical in ensuring product safety to SFAIRP (So Far As Is Reasonably Practicable) standards and maintaining the technical excellence and capability of our safety engineering team.The SSEDM oversees a team of 20 staff members, ranging from Cadets to Team Leaders, managing resource availability and capability to meet the demands of the RTS business.
In this role, staff are seconded into specific activities for defined periods, with the SSEDM ensuring their technical performance, competency, and career progression.
Additionally, the SSEDM may need to conduct project reviews and lead activities to ensure successful handover to other staff members.Key Responsibilities :Manage and oversee the Safety Engineering discipline to ensure compliance with SFAIRP standards.Ensure resource availability and capability align with overall business demands.Lead and mentor a team of 20 safety engineers, fostering professional growth and competency development.Conduct project reviews and lead activities when necessary to achieve objectives.Influence key stakeholders to secure support and alignment for Safety Assurance outcomes.Develop and implement strategies for staff competency enhancement and career progression.Ensure technical excellence in safety engineering deliverables.About You :Experience : 10-15 years of safety engineering design experience within railway rolling stock in a major company or consultancy.Technical Expertise : Proven ability to deliver high-quality Safety Assurance cases in the railway industry.Leadership Skills : Strong people management capabilities with a focus on team development and performance.Stakeholder Engagement : Exceptional communication and influencing skills to align project stakeholders with Safety Assurance objectives.Passion : A commitment to technical excellence and developing staff competency and capability.What We Offer :A leadership role in a dynamic and collaborative environment.Opportunities to shape and influence safety engineering practices within a high-profile organisation.Competitive remuneration and benefits package.Professional development and career progression opportunities.
