Job Description: Rolling Stock Fleet Engineering Manager – Electrical Discipline
Location: Australia (Full Relocation Provided)
Salary: $220,000 + 11.5% Super + 10% Bonus + $20/$30k Relocation
About the Role Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer with a passion for the railway industry and leading technical teams? We are seeking a Rolling Stock Fleet Engineering Manager to relocate to Australia and oversee the Electrical Engineering discipline within our Rail Services division. This high-impact leadership role will manage a team of 40 professionals, ranging from Entry Level Engineers to Team Leaders, ensuring technical excellence, resource availability, and career development.
As the Rolling Stock Electrical Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining team capability, aligning resource allocation with project demands, and fostering staff competency and career progression. You will also provide technical oversight, conduct project reviews, and occasionally lead critical activities. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned professional with a strong technical background and proven people management skills to contribute to major rail development projects in a dynamic and innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities Team Leadership: Manage a team of 40 electrical engineering professionals, from entry-level Engineers to Senior Team Leaders. Resource Management: Oversee resource allocation to align with business demands, ensuring staff are seconded to projects effectively and efficiently. Competency Development: Ensure team members are equipped with the necessary skills, competencies, and career progression opportunities to meet organizational and industry standards. Technical Oversight: Conduct project reviews and provide technical leadership, stepping in to lead projects when required. Performance Management: Monitor technical performance and staff development to maintain high standards of delivery. Collaboration: Work closely with other technical disciplines and project managers to ensure seamless integration across projects. Strategic Input: Contribute to long-term planning for the electrical engineering discipline, focusing on innovation and technical excellence. About You Experience: 10-15 years of electrical engineering design experience in railway rolling stock, gained in a major company or consultancy. Project Expertise: Proven experience working on large-scale rail development projects, with a solid understanding of the technical and operational aspects of rolling stock. Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and develop technical teams, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Technical Acumen: Deep knowledge of electrical engineering principles as they apply to rolling stock, including design, integration, and performance optimization. Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire teams, stakeholders, and clients.
