The Company Northern Cotton Pty Ltd ("Northern Cotton") is a new state-of-the-art cotton gin located at Katherine in the Northern Territory that prides itself on being at the forefront of technology and sustainability ginning high quality cotton for domestic and international markets.
Additionally, the cotton seed produced is a valuable by-product of cotton production that can provide significant benefits for local livestock industries.
Northern Australia has enormous potential as a cotton production region and Northern Cotton is at the forefront of the industry's burgeoning development.
The Position Reporting to the Group General Manager – Tipperary Group of Stations, the Commercial Grower Services Manager will be responsible for delivering Northern Cotton's strategic vision through the management of grower relationships.
As the face of the business in the Northern Territory and Western Australia, you will act as a liaison between growers, industry and the gin.
Accountable for business development, sales and procurement of cotton industry commodities, you will develop and maintain strong and collaborative business relationships with current growers and potential new cotton growers.
Key responsibilities will include:
Business Development: Promote cotton adoption, procure cotton to be ginned, and manage grower relationships.Cotton Commodity Trading: Conduct market research, establish prices, and manage sales, inventory & transport.Strategic Direction: Implement business plans, review operating results, and identify growth opportunities.Stakeholder Management: Foster relationships with our gin operating partner, growers and industry stakeholders.Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to environmental, health and safety regulations.The Position We are keen to hear from you if you possess the following skills, experience and key attributes:
Proven experience (5+ years) in a leadership, sales, or business development role in agribusiness, ideally with exposure to agricultural commodities such as cotton or grain.Operational and commercial business acumen, with the ability to develop and execute strategies that improve efficiency and drive business growth.Excellent negotiation, communication and relationship-building skills, ideally formed in roles directly dealing with growers and/or farmers.Excellent inventory control and logistics management abilities.High level commitment to safety, quality, and compliance.Problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a complex and geographically spread environment displaying sound judgement.Tertiary qualifications in agribusiness, or a related field will be highly regarded but are not considered essential.An unrestricted driver's licence is essential.Knowledge of the cotton growing & ginning process would be highly advantageous but is not a pre-requisite for this position.
Given the broad geographic cotton growing region, a willingness to travel and spend nights away from home is required.
