You will play an important role in Anyinginyi's drive to be a provider of high quality holistic primary health care services to the Aboriginal communities of the Barkly region in a culturally responsive way.
About us Anyinginyi Health Aboriginal Corporation (AHAC) is a multi-disciplinary organisation which provides primary health care services to the Aboriginal people of Tennant Creek and the surrounding Barkly region, dedicated to 'Closing the Gap' in Aboriginal health within remote Australia.
About the Role Anyinginyi Health Aboriginal Corporation has an exciting opportunity for a full time Grow Well Coordinator to join their Kalpa Purru Wirranjarlki – Public Health Services Section , here in Tennant Creek.
This role is offered on a Full-Time basis.
Primary Objective: The Grow Well Coordinator is responsible for coordination of the development, establishment and maintenance of structures and processes to support the establishment of primary health care services for the Barkly Region, which includes the communities of Ali Curung, Canteen Creek, Epenarra, Mungkarta and Elliott with priority health issues.
The primary focus of the position is to support individuals and communities caring for children aged 0-5 years old and to share and support knowledge, skills, and resources in addressing needs specific to each community.
More specifically, some of your duties will include: Establish structures which foster community engagement and decision making in the ongoing development and implementation of strategies that meet the goals and objectives of the program; Establish tools to deliver a program that improves community knowledge and practice in mother and child nutrition through referrals and participation in joint nutrition education activities; Refer cases of poor nutrition, particularly failure to thrive and anemia, to the Community Nutritionist; Encourage and establish strategies that foster community participation in the program; Make home visits focusing on nutritional management and treatment of obesity, anemia, skin conditions, diabetes and chronic kidney disease; Organise health promotion events and deliver education sessions to community members and students at schools across Barkly Region; Undertake detailed action planning within a community development framework that responds to the needs of local children and families at risk; Establish tools and information to improve parenting skills among young mums; Establish cultural strength and relationships between young mums and grandmothers and other carers.
About you To be successful in this role, you must maintain knowledge of primary health issues including hygiene and nutrition, while understanding the needs of small children aged 0 – 5 years old and the people that care for them.
Please note: A National Police Clearance and Ochre Card (NT Working with Children's) card obtainment is a requirement prior to commencement in this role.

Plan, prepare and undertake travel to communities in the South Barkly Region.
Conduct remote travel and stay following cultural, communication and safety protocols.
Train, cook, crafts etc.
Desirable: Understanding the needs of small children ages 0 to 5 years old.
Experience in working in remote Indigenous communities.
Previous experience working in a similar program in Aboriginal communities.
Be actively involved in the day-to-day running of the program.
