Both projects are in Western Australia.
The Role Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, the Group Accountant is a pivotal member of the finance team, responsible for overseeing and consolidating financial reporting across the organisation's mining operations.
This role requires a strong technical accounting background, particularly in the mining sector, with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting.
The Group Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting the financial decision-making process, enhancing reporting standards, and ensuring compliance with statutory and internal policies.
Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CA or CPA fully accredited designation.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in group accounting role within mining.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including IFRS.
Experience with accounting software systems; proficiency with SAP systems preferred.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Commitment to integrity and ethical conduct in financial management.
Proficiency in financial analysis.
Tasks & Responsibilities Adhering to, and promoting SQM corporate values: Excellence, Safety, Integrity and Sustainability.
Prepare and consolidate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the group in compliance with IFRS/GAAP standards.
Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting across all mining operations and projects.
Assist in preparation of Board and management reports with key financial insights and variance analysis.
Assist with tax compliance for the group, including income tax, GST, and mining royalties, in collaboration with the tax team.
Manage intercompany transactions and transfer pricing, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Assist with cost accounting practices, focusing on cost optimization and efficiency improvements.
Monitor and manage inventory valuations, including tracking of ore stockpiles and mining-related assets.
Assist with the maintenance of internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
Assist with periodic audits (statutory, internal and SOX), in information gathering and response to auditor's queries.
Coordinate with internal and external auditors during annual audits.
Develop and enforce financial policies and procedures to ensure robust financial controls.
Conduct regular reviews of financial controls, addressing any gaps and implementing improvements.
Collaborate with Joint venture finance teams to provide guidance and ensure consistency in reporting and compliance.
Work closely with operations, planning, and project teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
