THE PERKS A starting salary of over $85,000 base + super;Free onsite parking – close and convenient location2 complimentary member race day passes for events all year roundEnd of carnival team celebrations and regular social eventsTHE OPPORTUNITY Reporting to the Racecourse Manager, this permanent full-time position will be responsible for maintaining the grounds and gardens at Royal Randwick racecourse ensuring they are presented in the best possible condition.
While predominately based at Royal Randwick racecourse, the Groundsperson, grade 1A or 2A may be rostered to perform work on occasion at any of the four (4) Club sites – Royal Randwick, Rosehill Gardens, Canterbury Park, Warwick Farm Racecourses.
DAY TO DAY, THE ROLE WILL:
Undertake general maintenance work including labouring, cleaning, tracks, gardens and maintenance instructionsOperate plant equipment such as tractors, mowers, front end loader forklift, power sweepers, power harrows, brush cutters, hedgers, push mowers and general spray operationsConduct routine maintenance of turf, synthetic, artificial and other surfacesTHE RIGHT FITTo be successful in the role, the right fit will have the following experience and capability:
Demonstrated experience in a similar role, preferably in horticulture or sports turf management;General operational and mechanical maintenance skills;Appropriate licences to operate specialist machinery such as a manual vehicle, front end loader and forklifts (as applicable);Experience in operating plant and equipment including Bobcat, Grader and Excavator would be desirable;Sound knowledge and practical experience of handling and spraying chemicals;A demonstrable ability to work independently and as part of a team;Sound verbal and interpersonal communication skills;Sound literacy and numeracy skillsIf you believe you are the right fit and demonstrate our values, come and join us.
