Grounds and Facilities Schools Officer, Dalrymple Trade Training Centre, EducationDepartment of Education QLD – Charters Towers QLDAs the Grounds and Facilities Officer at the Dalrymple Trade Training Centre, you will contribute to the safe, efficient and effective operation of the trade centre by supporting the centre manager to maintain the grounds and carry out various maintenance tasks.This role is offered on a temporary part-time basis, at 0.26 FTE and 20 hours per fortnight, for a period of 6 months, unless otherwise determined.About Dalrymple Trade Training Centre (DTTC)Dalrymple Trade Training Centre (DTTC) was developed as a partnership between the four major schools in Charters Towers—Charters Towers State High, All Souls St. Gabriels School, Charters Towers School of Distance Education, and Columba Catholic College.

The successful applicant will be appointed to the OO2 classification with eligibility for progression to the OO3 level once specific criteria have been met.
Please note the salary rate shown is reflective of OO2 to OO3 classification range.About the RoleResponsibilities include:Performing a range of activities to ensure that the centre is maintained to a high standard; following set instructions; and having independence to perform a variety of day-to-day services that are routine in nature.As the Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities, you will not be required to perform any task or repairs that would normally require the services of a qualified tradesperson.Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements including maintenance of a safe work environment; safe storage and handling of chemicals, fertilisers, and fuels; bringing to appropriate attention any safety hazards; managing equipment records; and maintaining tools and equipment for repair services (as per manufacturer's service manual).Attend to or arrange repairs and maintenance within the centre, including those which relate to furniture and equipment; locks and windows; and centre facilities.Order and/or collect general grounds care/cleaning supplies and materials as authorised by the Centre Manager; undertake ground improvement and enhancement activities.Oversee maintenance of centre grounds through regular mowing, watering, and soil maintenance (refer to WHS guidelines and procedures); lawn and garden maintenance, including regular weeding and the use of appropriate insecticides and fertilisers where necessary (refer to WHS guidelines and procedures); plant, water and care for trees, shrubs, gardens; and undertake general maintenance of grounds care equipment such as mowers, brush cutters, tractors (as per manufacturers' service manuals) and arrange regular services.The centre is a partnership between:Charters Towers State High School (as Lead School);All Souls and St Gabriel's;Columba Catholic College; andCharters Towers School of Distance Education.Please refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.How to ApplyPlease attach a brief resume including contact details for 2 referees (referees should have an understanding of your relevant previous work history); andA 1-page written statement in response to the attached role description.We welcome all applicants to share any support needed to ensure our recruitment process is inclusive.Applications remain current for 12 months from the closing date and may be considered for appointment to identical or similar vacancies within the Department.Applications from recruitment agencies will not be accepted.When working in regulated employment, an employee must have a current Working with Children Clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.The Department of Education is a family inclusive workplace.#J-18808-Ljbffr
