INTRODUCTION

We are excited to announce a unique and influential leadership opportunity at Townsville Airport as the Ground Services Manager. In this pivotal role, you will serve as the senior manager overseeing our Townsville operations, with responsibility for Ramp and Customer Services, catering to multiple Airline Customers.

YOUR ROLE

As the Ground Services Manager, your primary objective will be to foster and nurture strong and proactive relationships with our valued Airline Customers, based on trust, respect, and exceeding their expectations. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing functional relationships with all other airport stakeholders.

LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT

You will lead a dynamic team of 15 employees, making it imperative to possess strong leadership skills combined with exceptional emotional intelligence, integrity, self-awareness, and effective communication.

You will lead the team to ensure the delivery of outstanding service standards for Oceania Ground Force within defined Safety and Compliance standards, financial, operational and employee relations objectives.

Safety and Compliance:
Drive, enforce, and manage Safety and Compliance standards in accordance with Airline and Company Standard Operating Procedures.
Innovatively address challenges while consistently ensuring Safety and Compliance, exceeding Airline Customer expectations.
Stakeholder Relations:
Cultivate cohesive relationships with the Airport Authority and Airline Customer stakeholders.
Provide transparent and timely communication on daily operational performance of Ramp and Customer Service.
Oversee the recruitment process, proactively identifying opportunities for growth.
Foster a Just Culture, promoting incident reporting and preventing threats to Safety and Compliance.
Manage staff performance and provide objective feedback, guidance, and support.
Effectively communicate Safety and Compliance updates through regular Toolbox meetings.
Efficiently plan and schedule daily resources, minimising overtime.
Oversee regular Airline and Company audits, presenting feedback and results to key stakeholders.
Prepare safety and incident/accident investigations, generating comprehensive reports.

A minimum of 3 years' experience in Ground Handling Services at an Australian Airport.
A minimum of 5 years' experience in people management, with a strong ability to confidently and effectively manage people.
A deep understanding of Airport Regulations and Compliance.
A thorough grasp of Airline Customer expectations regarding Safety and Compliance.
Ability to meet deadlines, maintain high standards, and pay meticulous attention to detail.
Proficiency in Australian Employee Relations legislation.
Exceptional leadership qualities, empowering individuals and building effective teams.
Resilience in overcoming operational and workforce challenges.
Confidence in participating in the recruitment process and team building.
A strong aptitude for learning new skills and using various IT and software programs.
Effective problem-solving skills, with the ability to remain composed under pressure.
Innovation, creativity, and strategic thinking in developing solutions.
Strong communication skills, including articulation, decision-making, and influence.
Impeccable grooming and professional deportment.
Trustworthiness in handling sensitive information, displaying a strong sense of confidentiality and ethical behaviour.
Ownership of problems with timely resolution, ensuring communication of outcomes to relevant departments.
