About the Opportunity You will perform payroll processing activities in accordance with relevant awards, legislation, Council's policies and procedures.
This position can be based at any of our regional centres, and will be full time, fixed term until 30 April 2025. Your Responsibilities Providing a high level of service, advice and response to payroll related enquiries, including interpretation of relevant industrial instruments; Performing accurate and high-volume payroll related data processing including employee maintenance, salary sacrifice arrangements, end to end superannuation processes, employee deductions and disbursements, off cycle employment terminations and backpay adjustments, within scheduled deadlines; Maintaining currency of relevant knowledge in industrial legislation, superannuation and PAYG taxation; Contributing to, assist and perform pay period and financial year processing and related reporting. This role is full time, working 36.25 hours per week with a fortnightly RDO. This role also has the option of a compressed working roster.
About Yourself Suitability for this position will be based on experience, application, achievement, and potential in the following critical competencies as they link to the key responsibilities for this position.
Proven/Demonstrated experience in:
Ability to competently interpret industrial instruments and employment related legislation, and practical experience gained in a multi-instrument payroll environment. Thorough knowledge of operational methods and activities relevant to payroll functions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and in writing, including negotiation and consultation skills and the ability to display tact, discretion and integrity when dealing with confidential and sensitive matters. A person in this position will need to hold a Diploma qualification in Business or related field, OR be able to demonstrate equivalent related experience. It is also highly desirable for the successful candidate to have solid experience working as a Payroll Officer in a corporate environment and hold a QLD Drivers Licence.
Mandatory Vaccinations (or a valid and verifiable contraindication) are to be evidenced when requested by Council.
