Toowoomba Grammar School (TGS) is seeking a skilled and dedicated Greenkeeper Lead to oversee the maintenance and enhancement of the School's sports fields, gardens, lawns, and outdoor facilities.
Reporting to the Facilities Coordinator, you will be responsible for turf management, irrigation, landscaping, and ensuring all outdoor areas are well-maintained, safe, and visually appealing for students, staff, and visitors. Building strong relationships with contractors, senior management, teaching staff, and vendors will be key to your success in this role.
Selection Criteria: Experience and Qualifications: Demonstrated minimum of 4 years' experience as a Greenkeeper or in a similar role, with relevant qualifications in sports turf management, horticulture, or related fields (Certificate II, III, or IV). A current Queensland Driver's Licence (manual preferred) and first aid qualifications or willingness to obtain are essential.Technical Expertise in Greenkeeping: Proven skills in turf management, including operation of Toro and John Deere Hybrid mowers, irrigation systems (e.g., Rainbird), and expertise in plant care, pest control, and sports field preparation (e.g., cricket pitches, soccer fields, and rugby fields). Experience in planning and executing landscaping projects and managing fertiliser and pest control programs is essential.Leadership and Team Collaboration: Ability to provide leadership and guidance to the grounds team, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.Health, Safety and Environment Awareness: Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety, ensuring compliance with regulations, maintaining workshop areas, and proactively addressing hazards. Understanding of sustainability practices in groundskeeping and the ability to incorporate environmental considerations into daily operations.Physical Capability and Endurance: Capability to perform physically demanding tasks such as mowing, trimming, kneeling, and lifting. Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and during non-standard rosters, including weekends and term breaks to support school events.Attention to Detail and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and address potential issues before they escalate.
