About the Role The Growth and Investment Unit is dedicated to fostering economic prosperity in Greater Dandenong by supporting local businesses, attracting strategic investments, and driving initiatives that enhance our vibrant activity centres.
The Investment Attraction and Visitation Officer will play a key role in connecting businesses with Council, identifying and delivering projects, events, and initiatives that drive economic growth and visitation. This position aims to enhance activity centres, build strong partnerships with stakeholders, and provide market intelligence to support informed decision-making. Additionally, the role will contribute to the delivery of Council services, such as the Business Permit Support Service, ensuring a customer-focused approach to business development and investment facilitation.
About You To be successful in this role, you will bring demonstrated expertise in economic or business development, combined with a solid understanding of the principles of economic growth and the role of government in supporting business and industry. You will have a strong knowledge of the challenges and opportunities facing retailers and key industries, along with the ability to identify emerging trends and translate them into actionable initiatives.
Your proven project management experience, coupled with excellent networking and stakeholder engagement skills, will enable you to deliver innovative projects and build meaningful partnerships. Exceptional communication skills—both written and verbal—are essential for preparing high-quality reports, presentations, and funding submissions. A proactive and collaborative attitude will be critical as you work with a range of stakeholders to achieve economic development outcomes.
