Grant-Funded Researcher (A) - Remote Sensing and Vegetation EcologyJob no: 515188 Work type: Fixed term - Full-time Campus: Adelaide Categories: Level A, Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology (Level A) $95,053 - $105,611 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation. A full time, fixed term position for 2 years.The Grant-Funded Researcher role is to work on two separate but related projects of using Earth observation to measure vegetation responses to global change. The first project, SA EcoMap, is supported by SmartSat CRC. SA EcoMap will investigate the usage of hyperspectral remote sensing with UAV LiDAR to examine differential vegetation recovery from bushfire. The second project, sponsored by the ARC, will examine the impact of rising temperatures on reducing tropical forest canopy leaf area.The successful applicant will be based at the North Terrace campus of the University of Adelaide. There will be opportunity for field work throughout the project, and collaboration with investigators at TERN and James Cook University.To be successful you will need:A PhD in a relevant discipline and extensive research experience in the area of remote sensing and vegetation ecology.Sound knowledge and understanding of remote sensing, statistics/machine learning, and programming analyses.Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research in the remote sensing of vegetation, including leading research and overseeing postgraduate and honours students where applicable.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate across disciplines.High level organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise and manage workload within a busy environment to meet competing deadlines.Track record of quality publications (or preprints) relative to opportunity and evidence of being involved in professional activities related to research.Enjoy an outstanding career environmentThe University of Adelaide, Australia's third-oldest university and a proud member of the prestigious Group of Eight (Go8), is located in Adelaide, ranked the tenth most liveable city in the world.
